E-mail Assistance
- When selecting whom to send this email to, place the recipients
email address as Blind Carbon Copy “BCC:” This will
ensure the privacy of the recipient.
- Write descriptive meaningful subject lines.
- When sending a web site address, always type it in the form
of “http://…” because some email programs
will not be capable of reading the full address and then will
not allow the user to route to that site address.
- Always remember to empty your Junk Mail folder.
- Also, remember to empty your Trash folder before ending your
session.
How to Attach Files to E-mail:
Using Outlook, version 2000 or higher
- Start Outlook
- Select Inbox
- Use the menu bar, across the top of the screen to select “File”
- New
- Mail Message
- Use the menu bar, to select “Insert”
- File…
- Browse through the folders: look in… use the down arrow
to select folder, continue to click a folder listed on the menu
until you have found the file that you would like to insert
into the email. Double click the file to insert
- In the To box, type the address of the recipient
- In the Subject box, type the subject of the e-mail message
- Click Send to send the e-mail message and its attachment(s)

[Delete Temp Files] [Delete
Temporary Internet Files] [Empty Recycle
Bin]
When a computer begins to run slower or when a computer appears
to take a program longer to open. You may be experiencing a memory
bog down. Your computer has been storing many temporary unnecessary
files that need to be deleted.
To Delete Temporary Files:
Double click the following files/folders
- My Computer
- Local Hard Disk Drive C:
- Windows
- Temp
- To select all the files within the Temp folder:
- Use the menu bar, across the top of the screen, to select
“Edit”
- Select All
- On the keyboard, Press “Delete
- A popup message will appear…You will be asked to Confirm
File Delete, Click “Yes to All”
To Delete
Temporary Internet Files:
Double click the following files/folders
- From the start menu
- Settings Control Panel
- Internet Options
- From the General tab:
- Temporary Internet Files:
- Click Delete Cookies
- Click Delete Files. A popup message will appear…You
will be asked to Delete files, click the white box to checkmark
“Delete all offline content”
- History:
- You may change the number for “Days to keep pages
in history”, use the arrows next to the box. Keep
in mind the smaller the number is best.
- Click Clear History
- Click “Ok” to exit.
To Empty the Recycle Bin
From the Desktop
- Double click “Recycle Bin”
- Use the menu bar, across the top of the screen, to select
“File”
- Empty Recycle Bin, if the word is grayed-out, there are no
files to be deleted: continue with step 5
- A popup message will appear…You will be asked to “Confirm
Multiple File Delete”, Click Yes
- Use the menu bar, to select “File”
- Close

Picture Editing Assistance
To Open a Picture and Resize:
- Double click the picture; it will open in a photo editing
program
- If it opens in Microsoft Photo Editor, click the “Image”
menu bar across the top of the screen
- Move to “Resize…”
- Use the width and height to adjust the percentage; Lower
to make smaller and Higher to increase the picture
- After you have adjusted the width and height; Click “File”
from the menu bar
- From the File menu, click “Save As..”
- Across the top, “Save In” what folder…use
the arrow to save it to the location you want the file. For
example: My Pictures, or Desktop (for a temporary save) DON’T
CLOSE IT YET
- Now enter a file name or leave the default name
- Now click Save
- Now close out of all that
To send the picture you just edited via e-mail:
- Open your email, compose a message
- Type your message in the body of the email (white space)
- Now click the attach button (the is an icon that looks like
a paperclip)
- Now “Look In” what folder…use the arrow
to find the location where you Saved In what folder
- Click the file name, the name you gave it after editing
- Click Insert; You will now see the picture has been inserted
into your email
- Now enter address of sender and send.
